                                       Morecambe Memories

Morecambe as it should have stayed

                                                                         The Tower Ballroom                                            circa 1920's

A wonderful building, facing the sea,  Ballroom, Cinema, Shows, Dancing Waters.  Sadly pulled down in the 60's to make way for a bingo hall.  The Arches were all little shops.

Near the Tower Ballroom                            circa 1900

The metal construction in the centre was on the top of the Tower Ballroom, alas,  it had to come down for the WW1 collection of metal, along with gates & railings.  The first building on the right was my Great Aunts' hotel for many years.

Promenade Central Facing West                              circa 1900

At the top of the road is the original Midland Hotel, pulled down in 1935 to build the Art-Deco version we have today. Along side, stretching out to sea, Morecambe Harbour, now known as the Stone Jetty

Promenade Central Facing East                                   circa 1900

The Clock Tower in the centre was a gift to Morecambe & built in 1906

Morecambe Harbour, the original Midland Hotel, the train tracks & behind the hotel on the other side of the prom lies the Promenade train station & Midland Laundry.
